Honey in Joseon
Hwang Jini is known to have spread Honey residue on dry and chapped skin, like a wash-off mask used today. Propolis is obtained by bees from the resin of trees and plays a role in protecting the honeycomb from bactera.
While the amount of honey that can be obtained from a single honeycomb is about 20kg, propolis is only 0.1g which is 1/200, making it a vert precious ingredient
